Are you struggling to cope with a recent or past bereavement?
Experiencing the death of a loved one can be truly devastating and distressing - it may be the most painful experience you ever go through.
I can be there for you in circumstances such as:
- Bereavement through sudden death or suicide
- Bereavement through cancer
- Being a bereaved carer
- Parent and sibling loss
- Partner and child loss
- Baby loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss).
As a bereavement counsellor, I've supported many people through the confusion and pain of loss and grief. I can support you in finding your coping and building hope and meaning for the future.
What you may be experiencing
Grief is a natural response to loss, yet it can catch you off guard and be intense and overwhelming.
There's no right or wrong way to feel. And your grief will be unique to you. But you may be experiencing feelings such as shock, numbness, aching sadness, emptiness, confusion, disbelief, anger, guilt, fear, hopelessness, loneliness.
You may feel like others around you are carrying on with life while your world has stopped. You may be doubting that you'll ever move forward.
Whatever you're experiencing, I'm here for you. And you can email, or call or text 07729 193629.
What you can expect in sessions
Offering a compassionate and non-judgmental space, you'll be welcome as you are. And your grief will be accepted, heard and understood.
As your grief holds its own time, I won't refer to timescales. This can be freeing if you've felt pressured to 'move on' or 'be over it by now'.
In counselling sessions, you can talk freely about your loved one and the relationship you had with them, or the future that you hoped for.
We can work at your pace to explore your loss, express your grief, and find your sense of coping.
As I'm a creative counsellor, we don't have to rely solely on talking - we can use art or other mediums to help you in your process. We can also use creativity to honour your loved one if you'd like.
How I can help you
I can help you feel part of a genuinely safe, trusting and supportive relationship where you can:
- Express your feelings and emotions
- Relieve that sense of loneliness or isolation
- Adjust to the changes in your life
- Find your coping
- Come to terms with your loss
- Establish hope and meaning for the future.
Navigating trauma and new or worsening mental health issues
I work in a trauma-informed way, prioritising your sense of safety and trust in our relationship, and helping you relieve overwhelm/distress.
Bereavement and grief can sometimes trigger new or worsening mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD. As I'm also a mental health therapist, I can support you with this.

My experience in bereavement
Having been a bereavement professional since 2008 (initially as a trained volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Support), I can be there for you.
I was awarded an advanced-level Certificate in Grief and Bereavement Counselling in 2012, which means I can support you with the following:
- If you've experienced multiple losses
- If you're experiencing prolonged, intense grief
- If you're parenting in grief.
Spirituality was also included in my training, and forms a helpful part of my counselling work.
Spirituality is a personal journey, yet it may include exploring beliefs, practices, and experiences you draw strength from or find comforting, as well as navigating that sense of crisis or distress.
Baby loss grief
I hold specialist training from the Foundation for Infant Loss, including the issues surrounding miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss and SIDS.
Baby loss can bring unique challenges (and a different kind of grieving), yet I can offer the understanding, compassion and sensitivity to support you, either online or over the phone.
I can also be of support in any subsequent pregnancies - this may evoke hope, yet also fear, anxiety, guilt or anger, and feel exhausting.
A note about coming for bereavement counselling
Bereavement counselling isn't just helpful if you're feeling alone, isolated, unsupported, devastated in your loss or overwhelmed with grief.
If you're experiencing mixed feelings or a sense of relief following a difficult or absent relationship with the person who has died, I can support you through any losses and trauma that may be underlying this, including abuse of any kind.
