Professional counselling from the comfort of your own environment
Online counselling provides an opportunity for us to work together, regardless of where we are in the UK. And if you'd feel comfortable talking on a video call, this form of therapy would be ideal for you.
Why choose online counselling?
For online counselling, you only need a reliable internet connection, secure Wi-Fi, and a device with a camera and microphone installed. And it's just as effective as face-to-face counselling.
But there are other benefits.
It saves time and money: No travel is required, so you don't have to worry about transport, travel time, parking, or the associated costs.
It's more inclusive: You can still access therapy if you have difficulties leaving your home due to chronic illness, disability, or your mental health.
It's easier to talk: Accessing therapy from the comfort of your own home can feel more relaxed, making it easier to share and engage in sessions.
It's more convenient: You can schedule your sessions at times that best suit you and fit more easily into work, family, or caring commitments.
As we can see and hear each other in real time, we can still build a good counselling relationship (we don't need to be in the same room for this).
What issues can it help with?
You can bring many of the same life challenges that you would explore in face-to-face counselling.
As a mental health therapist and bereavement counsellor, I can help with life challenges such as:
- Grief and bereavement (including baby loss)
- Healing after domestic abuse
- Depression and anxiety
- Stress and burnout
- Bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
- Being a carer and attending to your needs
- Perinatal or parenting issues
- Relationship issues
- Trauma (including BPD/EUPD and PTSD).
I have also received training in crisis counselling (I hold a Certificate in this), so if you're feeling overwhelmed/distressed, I can be there for you.
How does online counselling work?
For online counselling, I use a secure platform such as Zoom or WhatsApp Business. I also work from a dedicated counselling room in my home.
For your privacy, it is important that, wherever you access your session, you are in a private, comfortable space where you can speak freely.
Session invite: I will email you the details to join our booked Zoom session, or video call you on WhatsApp at our scheduled session time.
In session: We'll have a confidential exploration and reflection on whatever you choose to bring, including any goals you may have.
Session time: Each session will last one hour.
Session frequency: We will meet once a week or once a fortnight at first, which can help build our relationship and make progress in counselling.
A note about reasonable adjustments: If you have a disability, we can discuss what would best support you in managing your counselling (and I'll do my utmost to make any necessary changes).
Online counselling agreement
Before we start counselling together, I'll ask you to read and sign a counselling agreement, which includes an initial commitment of six sessions.
We'll then agree a start date for our first session.
Session six will include a review of the counselling already undertaken and the option to continue with further sessions if you feel it would be helpful.
What are the costs?
My standard session fee is £55.00 per hour, payable by BACS on the day of your session.
However, I can offer a concession if you're a student or in receipt of Universal Credit or Pension Credit. Please let me know if this applies to you.
Initial cost: I offer a one-hour no-obligation consultation at a fixed cost of £35.00, to explore your needs and see if we're a good fit for therapy.
You're welcome to contact me to book a no-obligation consultation
If you're ready to take that next step into counselling, a consultation will help you get a sense of me and how I could work with you.
You can call or text 07729 193629 or email me to book an online consultation or ask any questions.
