Professional counselling from the comfort of your own environment

Telephone counselling provides an opportunity for us to work together, regardless of where we are in the UK. And if you'd feel at ease talking over the phone, this form of therapy would be ideal for you.

Why choose telephone counselling?

For telephone counselling, you only need a reliable phone signal and a charged device. And it's just as effective as other forms of therapy (we don't have to see each other for counselling to work for you).

But there are other benefits.

It's more convenient: You can access therapy from the comfort of your own home, your parked car, or any other private, comfortable space.

It's easier to talk: Accessing therapy over the phone can offer a level of anonymity, making it easier to share and engage from the outset.

It reduces anxiety: As there's no face-to-face contact, you don't have to focus on how you look or any stress around non-verbal communication.

It removes technology stress: You don't have to worry about internet privacy, using online technology (e.g. Zoom), or your Wi-Fi connection.

And, not being able to see each other can help us listen more deeply and feel more connected.

What issues can it help with?

You can bring many of the same life challenges that you would explore in other forms of therapy.

As a mental health therapist and bereavement counsellor, I can help with life challenges such as:

  • Grief and bereavement (including baby loss)
  • Healing after domestic abuse
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Stress and burnout
  • Bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
  • Being a carer and attending to your needs
  • Perinatal or parenting issues
  • Relationship issues
  • Trauma (including BPD/EUPD and PTSD).

I have also received training in crisis counselling (I hold a Certificate in this), so if you're feeling overwhelmed/distressed, I can be there for you.

How does phone counselling work?

For telephone counselling, I work from a confidential, dedicated counselling room.

For your privacy, it is important that, wherever you access your session, you are in a private, comfortable space where you can speak freely.

Making contact: I will call you at our scheduled session time (on the number I have for you).

In session: We will have a confidential, focused conversation around whatever you bring to your session, including any goals you may have.

Session time: Each session will last one hour.

Session frequency: We will speak once a week or once a fortnight at first, which can help build our relationship and make progress in counselling.

A note about reasonable adjustments: If you have a disability, we can discuss what would best support you in managing your counselling (and I'll do my utmost to make any necessary changes).

Telephone counselling agreement

Before we start counselling together, I'll ask you to read and sign a counselling agreement, which includes an initial commitment of six sessions.

We'll then agree a start date for our first session.

Session six will include a review of the counselling already undertaken and the option to continue with further sessions if you feel it would be helpful.

What are the costs?

My standard session fee is £55.00 per hour, payable by BACS on the day of your session.

However, I can offer a concession if you're a student or in receipt of Universal Credit or Pension Credit. Please let me know if this applies to you.

Initial cost: I offer a one-hour no-obligation consultation at a fixed cost of £35.00, to explore your needs and see if we're a good fit for therapy.

You're welcome to contact me to book a no-obligation consultation

If you're ready to take that next step into counselling, a consultation will help you get a sense of me and how I could work with you.

You can call or text 07729 193629 or email me to book a phone consultation or ask any questions.
